A belated Hello to all of you out there! We just came back from a gorgeous and highly memorable five- day trip to Chisasibi, the town of the clan of the Cree in the far north of Quebec/ Canada which is why I have not had a chance to resume my blog any sooner. This week I would like to concentrate on:
No back- ground checks for online gun purchases? A few weeks ago someone I know sent me a rather questionable e- mail on every US citizen having the right to bear guns due to the Second Amendment, I believe. This right stems back to a quite tumultuous time with the British at war, so my husband. Okay, I thought, why not, after all this is part of the US history and explains this surprisingly excessive passion with firearms. About a fortnight ago or so, I learnt on TV that nothing appears to be easier than purchasing guns- even illegal ones over the Internet. You wonder why? Well, no back- ground checks are needed for that. Hallelujah! That TV station sent a team out staging that they needed a couple of fire arms more or less immediately. Almost instantaneously business relations were established, and when the alleged buyers expressed concern about possible checks, they were waved off ludicrously. And when the traffickers were asked if they didn't mind that even criminals could get their hands on the forbidden fruit, they just shrugged it off proving even more so that they simply have got no couth whatsoever. Apparently what counts only is making profit - nothing else. Sad, isn't it?
What is interesting though, quite a few foreigners set up illegal gun businesses and abuse the Internet to make a buck or two regardless of all the blood that will inevitably stick to their hands after all their work is done. Why is it that folks like them still enjoy free reign, I truly wonder?
