Spiritual Awakening

Spiritual Awakening - Good morning everyone! - "Who we are is why we are here." This I already came across a while ago, but somehow it's managed to stick with me ever since. By no means does it provide a satisfying answer to either question, who are we and why are we here, but it clearly makes sense scrambled together like this. Let me resume or rather summarize what I was telling you last time about the 5 different soul levels, all precious knowledge shared by spiritual entities of high credibility. According to them, the lowest group inhabited by the Infant Souls faces choices primarily of survival whereas the next higher plane, the Baby or Child Souls is in to weigh the right kind of moral decisions. The Young Souls' choices are in the first place based on the mastery of achievement of all sorts. The Master Souls, on the other hand, are supposed to mainly focus on all possible types of relationships. The highest tier as far as earthly incarnations go belongs to the Old Souls whose goal unmistakably lies with choices concerning the oneness with the Tao. As you can tell, each level brings upon different challenges, tasks as well as obstacles which eventually need to be overcome. The gradual progression from pure survival to learning and adapting to moral codes, mastering multiple achievements, dealing with dependence and interdependence in relationships to finally proverbially learning to go with the flow as a result of becoming one with life per se makes perfect sense and correspondingly requires a great deal of time and effort. This is almost like the different stages a butterfly has to run through before stripping off its cocoon and turning into the beautiful creature as we know it. Looking at the soul's development or evolution, I can't help noticing an advancement from the pure physical on to the moral (conscience building), mental, emotional, and finally spiritual dimension as well. In plenty of ways most of us are a colorfully fractured mosaic with various colors more present than others or even overly dominant in some areas. I'd like to think that at the end of our long karmic journey we are all going to combine all different colors equally spread out. More about this next week. - On looking into the 7 steps per level, I actually happened to find a neat description going along with a truly fitting metaphorical simile which I'd like to share with you at this point. This model suggests that the 1st or elementary step equals the absolute beginner's or initiative stage or as they put it, someone is putting their toes into the water for a start. Initiation is followed by slowly building a Foundation which means that that someone is becoming more courageous now wading in and out of the water. The 3rd step describes the process of rising to the Challenge or metaphorically speaking taking the first plunge after all. Step 4 calls for the Integration of all the knowledge that's been acquired so far, and enjoying the water respectively. Step 5 is devoted to dealing with (Self-) Expression in its countless facets. Our shy and cautious someone has come that far as to shout out, "Look at me!" while splashing about. The principle of Demonstration clearly dominates the 6th stage which means is time to put the ability to work as a life- guard to the ultimate test. The highest step solely refers to the field of Mastery and basically proves our swimmer's peak performance as he's after all becoming entirely one with the water itself. As easy- going and smooth as this whole spiritual experience may sound, it is in fact nothing like that at all. Quite on the contrary, character flaws such as stubbornness, greed, lack of compassion, egocentrism, narcissism, impatience, gluttony, hate, self- consciousness, etc. which we tend to bitterly hang on to sometimes over numerous lifetimes inhibit, delay or even disable our souls from successfully completing certain steps over hundreds of years. In a case like that we literally get stuck and grow ever the more frustrated. - Stay tuned for more.

College or no college - That's the question    Now the time is here again for high school graduates to venture off to college and university. I still, to this day, remember being thrilled and overly excited to start as a fresh(wo)man in a new place where studying would go hand in glove with partying for the next few years. I love to see every one's kids swarm out and flock together in college districts and on student campus terrains. Most teenagers get accepted somewhere even though often at second or third choice sites, but they will all have to face one and the same question which is, at what price? Unless you are granted a scholarship, three years and plus of college education costs you an arm and a leg, and if you keep going for more profound specialization, you will be in debts up your neck by the time you have got your PhD. Then what? Go and spit out job applications like a ball machine hoping that someone is going to hire you - unless of course you were lucky eno...
Buy small and local   Hi everybody! - Coming from a tiny country like Austria, one might assume that globalisation is just a phenomenon tailored for larger nations, but no, it has also been affecting us all across Europe. Globalisation itself is of complex nature, and even though I'm not planning to write about globalisation per se today, it somehow dictates our overall shopping behavior by bringing in more and more big box chain stores worldwide which sets the general trend for methodically and eventually putting local small family- run as well as individualists' shops out of business. In the 70ies I remember mom and dad taking us along to a wide range of stores from the baker to the butcher, the grocer's, the florist, the hard ware place, the electrician, the tobacco store, etc. What great memories our weekly trips to the market created for us. There we would hand- pick fresh fruit, produce, and other delicacies. Sometimes we would even get a piece of fruit or a carrot fo...
