Good afternoon to all of you out there! I hope you are not under the weather like me right now or suffer from the winter blues, SAD short for seasonal affective disorder respectively. If so, my best wishes to get well soon!
Identity Theft: You have got to be kidding me! Did you know how easily this can happen to basically anyone who applies or acquires a "new" social security number for themselves or their children in this country? No? I cannot blame you because I too had no clue whatsoever.
Okay, this is how your identity may get stolen. Social security numbers are usually not cleared but are issued to new recipients by the government. Checking the background on recycled social security numbers would cost the banks too much money, so being fully aware of their lack of necessary action to be taken as to protect the privacy of US citiziens and legal residents, they clear the path for fraud and identity theft. Since the nature and position of numbers given out on social security numbers is not too difficult to figure out, criminals have definitely found their niche to silently and unobservedly hack the combinations and crack the codes. Thus kid's social security numbers are often fraudulenty used without anyone's - let alone the parents' knowledge - except for the credit bureaus, of course. Why is this matter not looked into on a larger scale say federally instead of just being mentioned on a news show in a handful of states maybe? Honestly, how much more does it take to stop this insane nuisance which most likely happens across the whole nation, as I would expect. And why on earth is there done nothing at all to redeem hundreds if not thousands of entirely uninformed victims such as kids who innocently rack up thousands of dollars in credit card debts??? I would assume that with an alphabet consisting of 26 letters including low and captal letters, numeric digits from 0 to indefinite as well as endless symbols there should not even be a shadow of a doubt as to guarantee the security of billions of Americans for decades to come. The funny thing is, should you owe the IRS taxes, the government will take the time to find out if your social security number is the right one, hence there is no room for identiy theft there. Why is this, I wonder?
