YES =/= NO

YES =/= NO - Hello and welcome back to my blog! - The other day, I came across Paul Cuelho's quote, "Don't say NO when you want to say YES. Don't say MAYBE if you want to say NO." Feeling strangely captivated as a result, I began to wonder how many of us have possibly crossed that bridge already and in hindsight thought or even exclaimed, "Dang, I did not mean it like that."? Well, I have definitely been there gazillion times, and even though, I still keep reassuring myself that I can indeed do much better than that, nothing has ever really changed. Why the heck are we so darn afraid of just blurting out a big fat YES or NO when this is the absolute blunt truth? Why seriously bother scrambling together some cheesy excuse which more often than seldom reveals to be a lie anyway, no matter how white its intent. In numerous other ways, though, we have meanwhile learnt to put our feet down without necessarily coming across as hopelessly unmannered or tactless beings. Thus, what is it that still makes us stop at the point of rightfully addressing a situation, for instance, calling for refusal by means of a negative such as NO? Fair question, isn't it? Well, I shall leave it up to you. Approaching this form of discrepancy from a spiritual rather than a social etiquette- wise standpoint, the consequences of dishing out a false answer like that - regardless of the intention and degree of awareness behind - are, in fact, much more severe to clean up later on. Mind you, there are people who seek the perfect thrill in most deliberately misleading others and should therefore be labelled eternal yay or naysayers. Unlike the majority who more or less defenselessly allows to be repeatedly tossed around and turned upside down like ragdolls, those individuals pursue such deceit very much like a wicked game and boast or even gloat about their victories afterwards. Let me explain to you what a demeanor of such conniving magnitude does in the end when the time has come to reap their rewards. Lying and tricking others in an unashamed and ruthless manner such as this one will eventually backfire and ultimately take its toll on their souls. Do we in, all seriousness, assume that we can perfectly mislead ourselves of all people? Rest assured, this just cannot work out well but will predictably augur ill instead. Of course, attempting to get out of some petty commitment won't cause nearly as much damage as consciously denying one's own true sentiments for others. This particularly refers to volatile situations in which our counterparts noticeably struggle to emotionally anchor either because they truly need our help, maybe just some sort of affirmation or solely an open ear. Every single time we close off and pull up our firewalls due of the unwillingness to let them in, we actually wreak havoc on their souls. All too often, our foul excuse is that some folks are overall just too needy or clingy and hence need to be put in their place. Well, isn't compassion what each and every book of divine origin explicitly teaches us? We clearly need to understand that by pushing those temporarily vulnerable beings away from us for whatever reason, we simultaneously separate ourselves from our own souls and self- explanatorily from their Creator. Not only shall we have to face the Last Tribunal in form of rather merciless life- reviews at the end of every physical incarnation, but we will be put in exactly those people's paths in future existences. By then, however, we will have forgotten all about our previous failures towards them. Rather logically, we should not even think of complaining about random rejection, negligence and cold- heartedness the next few times around. So, whenever we find ourselves challenged for an honest answer again, let's keep it real. A YES is not a NO and vice versa. Last but not least, a shallow MAYBE does usually not facilitate matters either.

  1. I've had friends that ask me for my honest opinion on something that they are struggling with. Being a true friend, I feel that I owe them that honesty respond accordingly. I have learned that some friends only want you to tell them what they want to hear. I feel that I wouldn't be much of a friend if I made up a story that would give them only
    warm a fuzzy feeling.

Ridiculous!

Ridiculous!   - A belated Hello back to my blog! - I was writing this a few days ago as we were sitting on the plane to Chisasibi in the far north east of Quebec, Canada. We flew out of Montreal which is definitely not a small town airport. Anyways, what we went through was the epitome of aggravation. Having been to many airports already, I'm kind of used to the generally time- consuming ordeals starting with the self- check- in counters, security check points, passport controls, mile- long jogs to the gates, baggage claim, customs, etc. I really thought I'd seen it all - until last Monday morning. After surprisingly having been checked in by an actual person, we were finally headed towards Departures. I could not believe my eyes once we turned around the corner and spotted hundreds of passengers waiting in line. What the heck?! First, we were funneled in what seemed half a mile away from the actual security check point and then driven in long snake lines just like cattle. I g...
Buy small and local   Hi everybody! - Coming from a tiny country like Austria, one might assume that globalisation is just a phenomenon tailored for larger nations, but no, it has also been affecting us all across Europe. Globalisation itself is of complex nature, and even though I'm not planning to write about globalisation per se today, it somehow dictates our overall shopping behavior by bringing in more and more big box chain stores worldwide which sets the general trend for methodically and eventually putting local small family- run as well as individualists' shops out of business. In the 70ies I remember mom and dad taking us along to a wide range of stores from the baker to the butcher, the grocer's, the florist, the hard ware place, the electrician, the tobacco store, etc. What great memories our weekly trips to the market created for us. There we would hand- pick fresh fruit, produce, and other delicacies. Sometimes we would even get a piece of fruit or a carrot fo...
Money Destroys The World   - This morning's news segment about a supposedly renowned US dog breeder corporation having neglected thousands of dogs has once more proven that quality is sacrificed for the sake of quantity which is linked to the sad fact that everything revolves around money only.  In order to increase and multiply profits, more volume of less quality has become the clearly chosen option everywhere. No doubt, we are dealing with a huge problem on a global scale, but still I feel that this country doesn't even bother masking the issue at times. That's just not fair towards the people here! Lies and false promises are the epitome of hypocrisy, all for the sake of making more money. Absolutely sickening! Just imagine, you would like to purchase a dog from a good breeding stock, and you are willing to pay more, but what you get is often not what you've been promised, no even worse guaranteed. The worst thing though, the paper work assures you that things are o...
