Money, Money, Money

Money, Money, Money The same night I posted two weeks ago, my husband talked to someone from around here and came back with a story which can almost be considered a follow- up of our little pool saga. Just listen to this. That man's sister put up her plastic pool and -little surprising- soon after got a visit from the local building inspector who told her that she had better get a permit ASAP and handed her a warning. The woman, obviously not intimidated by him at all, responded saying he should shove it whereupon the aggressor left. Wishful thinking should you now assume that that was it. No, actually quite the opposite! That building inspector turned her case in to the empirical state of NY - ASAP. They hurried back with a $5000 fine plus a final sweet warning which was, they would put her in jail if she still resisted to put that pool of hers down for once and all! Really? - By the way, our new pool was returned to Walmart, and of course, my hubby was asked for the actual reason. When he explained, the woman behind the customer service desk said more and more people were bringing back their pools as nobody felt like being bothered with that kind of crap. That was going to hurt the pool places as well as retail places trying to sell pools including all the products coming with them, so my husband. Suddenly he found himself in the middle of a heated debate between advocates and opponents. When I got word of that incident later, my sarcasm started to spark all over the place. No doubt, my husband is absolutely right. By pulling this cheap and stupid trick on us now about having to acquire permits including more costly precaution devices allegedly for the sake of NY's children and thus by deliberately hurting manufacturing and retail places dealing with pools, they are clearly crippling the national economy down the line. This somewhat reminds me of the dumb kid coming home from a hunting trip and explaining that he very well fired his gun but shot himself in the foot. All of this clearly serves one purpose only, and this is to pull even more money out of people's pockets. Since the politicians' intentions are generally anything but positive, the carousel will eventually and inevitably come to a halt. The fact of the matter is that ever the fewer people can afford paying higher and higher taxes thus more and more houses are ending up sitting on the market. This is especially crucial in urban areas where the latest tax spikes are ultimately putting the last die hards over the edge as well. Slum (land) lords are coming in and buying abandoned houses cheap and in bulk bringing in a shipload of welfare folks, drug dealers, low lives and criminals. Seemingly nobody wants to tackle the golden calf called Welfare, so until then if at all ever, the loyal tax- paying class will keep dwindling away and finally vanish completely. What will be left though, are hundreds of thousands of abandoned and foreclosed homes. On the other hand, there will be lots and lots of apartment housings filled to the gills and more senior facilities in constant need to be built. In the meantime the riffraff will keep breeding and multiplying like crazy, most of whom will be carried by welfare. Entire cities will turn into ghettos riddled by racial wars, crime and chaos. Great! Who the heck is going to pay for all of that? Detroit just declared bankruptcy, and other metropolis will follow soon. And then what? Right, there will be nothing but war between our own borders. It is literally high time to change gears! Taking the very last from the hard working folks is clearly not the right kind of approach. And sorry to all those bums who've been enjoying the welfare ride of their lives, but the time for change is definitely over- due. If they don't want to work and become productive members of society, they will be out there on their own. No more food stamps and extra treats to con- artists and losers! - What's more, even if it will be a blow to their egos, schools will finally have to scale back 50% or more. Just look at other countries and stop complaining! No school needs sports facilities and stadiums like professional players. - Last but not least, retirees' and veterans' pensions must no longer be touched. After all, it was them who have worked and fought hard for your freedom.

  1. you are absolutely right!! the government needs to get their priorities straight and leave the hard working people who pay their taxes alone about such small harmless things as a pool and go after the bums and rift raft drug dealers that is making our towns and states dangerous..and put some kind of stop to the welfare system..it was put into place to help people, not for them to live on and keep having babies just to live on it....I have worked all my life and when i was put out of work i had to fight tooth and nail for what i worked for...it is a sad situation for sure

Seelenpartner, Zwillingsseelen, ... Alles Aus Einer Einzigen Seele (II)

Seelenpartner, Zwillingsseelen, ... Jede ...
College or no college - That's the question    Now the time is here again for high school graduates to venture off to college and university. I still, to this day, remember being thrilled and overly excited to start as a fresh(wo)man in a new place where studying would go hand in glove with partying for the next few years. I love to see every one's kids swarm out and flock together in college districts and on student campus terrains. Most teenagers get accepted somewhere even though often at second or third choice sites, but they will all have to face one and the same question which is, at what price? Unless you are granted a scholarship, three years and plus of college education costs you an arm and a leg, and if you keep going for more profound specialization, you will be in debts up your neck by the time you have got your PhD. Then what? Go and spit out job applications like a ball machine hoping that someone is going to hire you - unless of course you were lucky eno...
Buy small and local   Hi everybody! - Coming from a tiny country like Austria, one might assume that globalisation is just a phenomenon tailored for larger nations, but no, it has also been affecting us all across Europe. Globalisation itself is of complex nature, and even though I'm not planning to write about globalisation per se today, it somehow dictates our overall shopping behavior by bringing in more and more big box chain stores worldwide which sets the general trend for methodically and eventually putting local small family- run as well as individualists' shops out of business. In the 70ies I remember mom and dad taking us along to a wide range of stores from the baker to the butcher, the grocer's, the florist, the hard ware place, the electrician, the tobacco store, etc. What great memories our weekly trips to the market created for us. There we would hand- pick fresh fruit, produce, and other delicacies. Sometimes we would even get a piece of fruit or a carrot fo...
