May I introduce myself ...

Hi, my name is Marion. I am originally from Austria, Europe and have been living here in New England for five and a half years ever since I got acquainted and subsequently wed to my sweet husband. I speak a few languages, and have always kept my ear on the ground as to what is going on around me politically, socially, economically, and most of all psychologically no matter where I am
as I feel it is of magnificient importance to stay updated at least on the surface of major matters which simply make or break a country's society. Sure, I am not in the position whatsoever to bring changes upon this or that people, but I should at least be able to express my free opinion about what bothers the heck out of me and hopefully others too.
The reason why I wanted to start blogging is that I simply do no longer want to just sit around idle and keep accepting and excusing certain occurrencs, events, trends, situations, developments, and facts because everybody here and elsewhere throughout the western world is supposed to nod in approval and swallow the bitter pill over and over again. Hence the name of my blog, BASTA! Enough is enough!
I am planning to publish one post per week on a specific topic and would welcome your responses as long as they are kept on a neutral and non- aggressive base. I am fully aware that you may not always agree to what I feel like saying and challenge you to set the ground for debates, but please refrain from hatefully replying out of anger, misunderstanding, disagreement or just no reason at all.
I am going to start the first week of 2012. Until then, have a Merry Christmas and a great New Year's Eve! Talk to you soon.

  1. Hi, Marion

I understand your frustration, as a contractor I have to listen to many horror stories from innocent home owners throughout the day.Regulation should be required but on the other hand this is still a free country.... if we have to much government well then we will have to pay them as well to exchange the locks , not going to happen ... it is buyer beware !! I believe that in todays society there is no excuse for stupid ..there are multiple help pages and warnings as well as T.V. Shows to help every day .. No need for anybody to be a victim .
I do thou appreciate the fact that there is someone like yourself willing to speak up and at least try to help those who obviously does not do there research and end up the victim....
Please keep posting your blog as I will check in and leave my comments as well

    Good luck

    William / Ny

Buy small and local   Hi everybody! - Coming from a tiny country like Austria, one might assume that globalisation is just a phenomenon tailored for larger nations, but no, it has also been affecting us all across Europe. Globalisation itself is of complex nature, and even though I'm not planning to write about globalisation per se today, it somehow dictates our overall shopping behavior by bringing in more and more big box chain stores worldwide which sets the general trend for methodically and eventually putting local small family- run as well as individualists' shops out of business. In the 70ies I remember mom and dad taking us along to a wide range of stores from the baker to the butcher, the grocer's, the florist, the hard ware place, the electrician, the tobacco store, etc. What great memories our weekly trips to the market created for us. There we would hand- pick fresh fruit, produce, and other delicacies. Sometimes we would even get a piece of fruit or a carrot fo...
College or no college - That's the question    Now the time is here again for high school graduates to venture off to college and university. I still, to this day, remember being thrilled and overly excited to start as a fresh(wo)man in a new place where studying would go hand in glove with partying for the next few years. I love to see every one's kids swarm out and flock together in college districts and on student campus terrains. Most teenagers get accepted somewhere even though often at second or third choice sites, but they will all have to face one and the same question which is, at what price? Unless you are granted a scholarship, three years and plus of college education costs you an arm and a leg, and if you keep going for more profound specialization, you will be in debts up your neck by the time you have got your PhD. Then what? Go and spit out job applications like a ball machine hoping that someone is going to hire you - unless of course you were lucky eno...

Parallel Worlds

Parallel Worlds   - Good morning! - Recently a friend asked me whether there was such a thing as Parallel Universes or rather Parallel Worlds. I thought the question was a rather intriguing one because even though I absolutely believe in the existence of parallel worlds, I've never been asked this specific question before. Immediately I was taken back to that late Spring day in 1997 when I was experiencing a partial out- of- body occurrence. Up to then, I had not read anything about the soul possibly and randomly leaving the body, waking up in one's supposedly "familiar" surrounding on returning and yet not being able to move at all for a while, let alone even given any of this a serious thought. Anyway, that afternoon I had come home from school and lain down to take a short nap. After about an hour or so I was pretty certain that I had fully awoken already, and so I was trying to get up from my couch, but I couldn't - just yet. What on earth was happening? I was...
